Vroengard

VroengardThis island is the home of the Dragon Riders. It is their main headquarters. The city of Doru Araeba, located in the east of Vroengard, is their capital. It is said that strange creatures live there. It's likely that they are Dragons, or another magical creature, such as Werecats and Spirits. There have also been rumors of Eldunarí somewhere on the island.

Uru-baen

Uru-baenUrû'baen (Translation: the downfall of the wise) was the capital city of the Empire and the center of Galbatorix's kingdom. The king rarely left Urû'baen, except during times of great need. The only known time after the Dragon War he left was to Dras-Leona, when he went to teach the leader a lesson. Until it was taken by Galbatorix and the Forsworn during the Dragon War, it had been an elven city named Ilirea, and then the capital of the Broddring Kingdom. Oromis was said to have lived here before the Dragon war, and had painted a Fairth of it the day he fled the city before Galbatorix took control of the city. It is now a peaceful city, rid of the evil Lord Galbatorix.

Carvahall

CarvahallCarvahall is a tiny village, home to around 200 people, located at the top of the Anora River in the northern part of The Spine in Palancar Valley. The village is the only settlement in the valley aside from Therinsford, and is rarely visited by anyone save for merchants and trappers. Most of the village is made up of stout log houses with low roofs and wide porches on their fronts for talking and conducting business. Every year, the Traders will come to town and sell their wares to the villagers.

The Spine

The SpineThe Spine is a mountain range that ran down the west coast of Alagaësia. It has only one major pass, along the Toark River, which isolates the coast. Most people in the Empire fear the Spine and the danger it represents, especially since Galbatorix lost nearly half his army in it during his campaign against the Dragon Riders. After this incident, hardly anyone dare to venture near to this dangerous mountain range.

Surda

SurdaSurda is a small country in southern Alagaësia, on the southwest border of the Empire. It was founded around twenty years before the beginning of the Rider War, and remained outside of Galbatorix's Empire, as he was occupied with other sinister acts of Dark magic and did not consider it a threat. Consequently, many outlaws from the Empire sought refuge there, including the Varden.

Ellesméra

EllesméraEllesméra is the capital of the elven kingdom and the residence of the Elven Queen, Islanzadí. It is also home to Oromis, last of the old Rider Order, and Rhunön, the maker of the original Rider's swords. Ellesméra is located deep in the forest of Du Weldenvarden, magically sung entirely from a pine forest. The trees will grow into the shape the singer desired, and will naturally blend into the environment. There is no meat eaten in Ellesméra, or in any of the other elven cities. If Glaedr killed deer, he would take the carcass away from the city so as not to defile the air with its smell. Elves sing to trees and plants in the Ancient Language to get them to grow and shape themselves the way the elves want to. This is how they make their houses, bows, and other wooden items. Elves also sing to flower seeds to grow them completely from their own energy and magic.
